Following a very unconventional plot, we are introduced to different situations the Matori must face throughout their career, through the eyes of a newbie criminal investigator and our main character, Eto Kai. However, as the manga progresses, we gradually begin to realize that Kai isn't all he appears to be. The series, by Naked Ape, is very edge-of-your-seat, and highly recommended for everyone. The story centers around two newbies at the Narcotic Control Department in Japan, Hal and Kai. While struggling against drug dealers, gangs, murderers, psychopaths, mysterious organizations and mad people in general, they have also to deal with their own mysteries, specially Kai. The gentle and caring boy, who suffers together with the drug users and tries his best to stop people from suffering, just turns into a killing machine suddenly in some cases, like the occurrence of a certain event functioned like a switch. What's behind this? Who is he, in fact?

The story involves human mutations called "Diclonius", who grow horns on their heads and possess telekinetic powers, in the form of invisible "arms" called vectors. The tendency for violence among Diclonii varies among characters. Certain scientists contain them in a Facility in cells, where they are subject to inhumane experiments to test their abilities or where they await execution for being too dangerous. An infectious virus is also associated with the mutation. This virus is spread through non-lethal contact with the vectors of a diclonius. The main non-mutant character in the story is Kouta, who ends up becoming increasingly involved with these dicloniuses, as they seek refuge from the scientists. The main diclonius character is Lucy/Nyuu, a killer whose alter ego is a hapless and very cute child whose vocabulary and intelligence are quite limited.

The crew of MIrai must decide whether or not to change the course of history by involving itself in WWII.

The manga is composed of various episodes linked together by the mysterious boy with no particular name. The boy travels to different times and places, trading with different people, letting them see a glimpse of their future or past, or the secrets of others, and bets to see if they can change their fate.

The story revolves around three teenagers: Nomiya Tomomi, a high school dropout, Togawa Kiyoharu, an ex-sprinter who now plays wheelchair basketball and Takahashi Hisanobu, a popular leader of the high school's basketball team who now finds himself a paraplegic after an accident. Real features a cast of characters who find themselves being marginalized by society, but are all united by one common feature: a desire to play basketball, with no place to play it in. Nomiya, being a high school dropout, has no future in his life. Togawa, being a difficult personality, finds himself constantly feuding with his own teammates. Takahashi, once a popular team leader, now finds himself being unable to move from the chest down. Real also deals with the reality of physical disabilities, and the psychological inferiority that the characters struggle against. The characters break through their own psychological barriers bit by bit.
