Set in the twilight of the Meiji period, this tale highlights the Mitsuboshi, a traditional kimono shop that has seen better days. Once abuzz with activity, the shop now languishes in obscurity. Torasaburou Hoshino, the third son, returns from an extended stay in England determined to restore Mitsuboshi's former glory, but is met with ridicule by his fellow shopkeepers. Undeterred, Torasaburou persists in his quest to transform Mitsuboshi into a three-star establishment. Meanwhile, an enigmatic character named Takatou seems to be aware of Torasaburou's goal and his valiant efforts to rejuvenate the shop.
