Sometime in the past, Shuuji had a spat with a friend or something (referred to only as “that guy”) who thinks the best way to make up is send mysterious unmarked packages of randomly selected tea. I guess he has a history of sending dangerous gifts, as Shuuji gives Shino the tea “on the house” to see if it’s poisoned. Well, the tea appears to have been laced with a genie, who promptly grants Shino his desire to be with Maruyama... But be careful of what you wish for.

Sahoko and Rio, two classmates, find solace in each other's company despite their tumultuous pasts. Rio suffers from depression and self-inflicted harm, and her family (comprising of her father, stepmother, and stepbrother) doesn't show her any love. However, Sahoko brings some light into her life. Sahoko herself has a cryptic backstory and doesn't share a good rapport with her parents as she lives with her aunt. Moreover, there's a suggestion that Sahoko and Rio have met before when they were much younger.
Midori is a high-school-aged lesbian who has just been rejected, driving away one of her few friends. In the world right now, there are creatures called "Extraneous" that appear out of nowhere, kill people, and disappear again. No one remembers when they started appearing, but the chance of being killed by one is about the same as the chance of dying in a car accident. Midori's mother was killed by one a year ago, and not only is her father rarely around, he's also deeply in debt. She gets attacked by an Extraneous on her way home, but is saved by a mysterious girl who claims that she's a god. Midori names her Hitsuji (sheep) because of her horns, and takes the girl in. They start a website, Hitsujiya, an Extraneous-fighting service provided by Hitsuji.
