Knights is a shounen manga tale about squire Mistletien, called 'Mist' for short. Taking place in a medieval world in which the church and her representatives are burning people en masse on suspicion of witchcraft, Mist and his organization are taking a stand against the church and the 'Saints' who are perpetuating the witch hunts. Mist is feared and hated by the village-folk because of his appearence, wearing a mask to disguise himself and going by the moniker 'The Black Knight.' He travels with Euphemia, a young girl who is as expert with mixing potions and poisons as Mist is with a sword, and together they rescue those who are to be executed on suspicion of witchcraft.

A girl takes a shortcut through the woods one day, and gets caught by a wolf, and almost eaten. But by freak coincidence, they find out they have the same taste in obscure manga. They become friends. Little Red Riding hood slice-of-life shenanigans ensue.

However, a thirty page preview ran in Akita Shoten's Young Champion Magazine. The problem with straight to tankobon manga is that there is no indication whatsoever of when the next volume might be released. Though the author is the same, the artist has changed from the original manga. The realistic grit of Masayuki Taguchi has been replaced by the lighthearted cartooniness of Hitoshi Tomizawa. In the middle of Ilvia is a place called sanctuary where children live under the guidance of the angels. The angels teach the children they must not leave the sanctuary because the demons will get them due to being attracted to their pure souls. When the children reach there fourteenth birthday they graduate from the sanctuary and are seen off by the other children to paradise. What is paradise? All is well or is there something more sinister going on behind the scenes...
