A prequel to the (then) soon-to-release Devil May Cry 3. Dante is a demon slayer and bounty hunter with a demon heritage of his own that haunts his past. He's currently unemployed–and bored to death. Opportunity knocks in the form of a missing-child case, which his friend and manager, Enzo, offers him. But a four-million-dollar reward, an unexpected demon attack and a little girl named Alice all conspire to send Dante through the looking glass on a nightmarish adventure beyond his wildest imagination.
The Communication Player (COMP) is a portable gaming system that can send and receive emails and surf the web. Kazuya Minegishi and his friends are each given a COMP by Kazuya's ominous hacker cousin, Naoya, who tells them they will need the devices to survive. Along the way, they must uncover the truth behind the summoning program and what happens when they change their fates.
The setting of Devil Survivor 2 spans the whole country of Japan. It tells the story of Japanese high-school students who receive emails from a website foretelling their friend's deaths.
